Spring Cleanup in the Foothills:
Every Saturday, April 7 _ May 5
The Parks and Recreation Department, Open Space Division, would like to invite neighbors and friends to join us in a month-long event to spruce up Open Space Foothills trailhead areas.
Each Saturday in April and the beginning of May, we will be getting together at a different Foothills parking area for a variety of projects such as graffiti removal, trash cleanup, painting, plant pruning and more!
Workdays will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continue through 1:00 p.m.
This event is a celebration of the foothills, therefore, fun and informational activities related to Open Space can also be enjoyed during the Cleanup.
Be part of a community effort to preserve one of Albuquerque's favorite outdoor areas.
Look for crews and activities at these locations and please consider walking, biking or carpooling as parking is limited.
• April 7: Copper Parking Area, east end of Copper Rd.
• April 14: Embudo Trail-head, east end of Indian School Rd.
• April 21: Menaul Picnic Area, east end of Menaul Ave.
• April 28: Piedra Lisa Open Space, south on Camino
de la Sierra from the east end of Candelaria Rd.
• May 5: Embudito Canyon Trailhead, east on Montgomery Rd., north on Glenwood Hills Rd. and east on Trailhead Rd.
"The Sandia Foothills are among Albuquerque's most precious Open Space resources," said Mayor Jim Baca.
"It is home to wildlife, provides outdoor recreational opportunities, and its scenic value is unmatched in our community," the Mayor continued. "I want to give a special thanks to all of the people who volunteer."
