Safeguard Our Students
If you are concerned about junk food and junk food ads in schools; about pesticide residues, hormones, and genetic contamination in school lunches; or toxic pesticides being sprayed on school grounds and in school buildings; if you think students should be learning about healthy food choices and sustainable agriculture — then please become part of the Organic Consumers Association SOS School campaign!
Today we face a literal epidemic of food allergies, obesity, asthma, premature onset of puberty, childhood cancer, and diet-related behavioral and learning problems affecting the nation's youth. The problems are clear. The question is: what are we going to do about them?
The Four SOS Goals:
• KICK junk foods and junk food ads out of our schools.
• START converting school lunches to healthier menus, using local organic and transition to organic ingredients (no pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, or genetically engineered ingredients).
• STOP spraying toxic pesticides on school grounds and in buildings and convert to integrated pest management practices.
• TEACH students about healthy food choices and sustainable agriculture.
