Don't Diet, Detoxify!

by Lynne Lovejoy, Book Purchaser

Gary Null, Ph.D., has written more than a dozen books.

Some of the titles you may be familiar with, like Joy of Juicing or Good Food, Good Mood. He now has a wonderful, new book out called the Ultimate Lifetime Diet.

Actually, this isn't a diet in the conventional sense, but a lifestyle change to health, happiness and letting go of excess pounds.

He explains why conventional diets and some of the newer trendy diets don't work and why they cause you to gain weight in the long term.

For years, the spoken and unspoken blame for overweight has fallen on the overweight victim, the implication being that overweight people are lazy hogs.

Not so, says Gary Null.

There are many causes for overweight and even for overeating.

A lot of the foods we eat today are denatured and although we stuff ourselves, our bodies are still crying out for the nutrients they need.

Fat-free diets don't work because our bodies do need the good fats. More people get fat on fat-free foods than ever before.

There is a food/mood connection; the effect of diet on behavior.

Elimination of caffeine, sugar and refined starches can eliminate food cravings and even the need for psychoactive drugs.

Another thing that can trigger food cravings and overeating is food allergies.

Sadly, that which we crave may be what we are allergic to.

Then there may be hormonal imbalances that create food cravings and overweight.

Dr. Null offers nutritional solutions for these problems and has yummy meal plans and recipes.

However, there is more to health than just a new way of eating.

There are psychological and emotional components to eating healthily and being healthy.

It is important to look within and discover and face the demons that undermine our attempts to eat right.

Also, we can look within for strengths we didn't know we had.

Gary has a format to follow and questions to answer. This can be an adventure of self-discovery.

He has a section on exercise and other physical therapies and suggests massage, aromatherapy, and hydrotherapy, as well.

There is also a section of true stories of people who have done this program and succeeded.

We can begin to detoxify ourselves of foods that poison us and begin eating foods that nurture us. We can let go of old ideas that harm us and embrace new ideas that heal us.

We can exercise for joy and well being, and let go of lethargy and inertia.

We are truly beautiful beings. We just need to peel away all the stuff that covers our beauty.

This book, Ultimate Lifetime Diet, can help us do just that.

"I never met a plate of food I didn't like." — Lynne Lovejoy
