Community Garden Party at the Valley Co-op:

A Celebration of Clean Food and Healthy Living
Saturday, May 12, 2001, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

by Robyn Seydel

Last year's gardening festival (better known as Sprout and Shout) at the Valley location was so much fun, we just had to do it again!

The organic farmers that came with a variety of bedding plants, including veggies, flowers, and herbs (both medicinal and culinary), just about sold out.

And all the many local food producers had a great time treating us to samples of their delicious products.

This year we are once again celebrating the farming traditions of life in the valley and highlighting our dedication to the clean food so necessary for a good, healthy life.

The Co-op's mission is to provide the finest in locally grown, organic and GMO-free food that supports and sustains both our community and the planet.

To this end, we are once again offering this celebration as a place for local gardeners to get the finest in organic and GMO-free seeds, and seedlings and sample the delicious efforts of those food producers (both local and national), that are as dedicated as we are to clean food and good living.

We are also working to put together some fun activities for the kids (both the two-legged and four-legged varieties). In our efforts to support other local cooperatives, we will be renting a Jolly Giraffe Jumper for the children.

The 50? donation requested will benefit the good work of our nearby neighbor, the Albuquerque Preschool Cooperative.

They will also be on hand with other children's activities and membership info.

Also on hand will be knowledgeable people to answer your planting and gardening questions, including Master Gardener Joe Holdridge, The Albuquerque Growers' Market Association, and others.

This festival is timed to bring you the finest in plants at just the right time for filling that special bed around your home.

Already we have a number of local farmers signed up, including Mimbres Farms, Desert Woman Botanicals, Seeds West, and others; and we are looking forward to a beautiful display and sale of a wide variety of exciting plants and gardening products.

This will be a great place to find that special gift for Mom. Mark your calendar and come to the Valley Co-op on Saturday, May 12 to honor the continuation of the valley's agricultural traditions and sample delicious clean, organic and GMO-free products at the Community Garden Party: A Celebration of Clean Food and Healthy Living.
