Interested in the Co-op’s Board of Directors? Here is some information that should answer most of your questions.
To qualify as a candidate, you must have been a member in good standing of the Co-op as of June 30th, 2000. Nominations will be open from September 1, 2000 through October 1, 2000.
The election will be held from November 1st through 14th, 2000.
Four of the nine Board positions will be filled in this election.
Candidates must submit a photograph of themselves, a short (1-2 paragraphs) personal statement, and responses to the attached list of questions.
The responses to the questions must not total more than one, double-spaced, typewritten page.
Be sure to include your name, address, membership number and telephone number with your application.
It is suggested that candidates should
1) return the packet within four weeks;
2) attend at least one Board meeting; and
3) attend at least one committee meeting.
Campaigning activities should be coordinated with the appropriate Store Team Leader.
The November issue of the newsletter will publish each candidate’s statement and photo.
Candidates will be invited to make a brief presentation at the annual General Membership Meeting. Board time commitments average three hours per week.
Board members are expected to attend regular monthly meetings, special meetings when called, and all membership meetings.
Board members are also expected to provide a presence at Co-op events, to be available to members, and to take a leadership role in one or more Committees (current Committees include Finance, Membership, Nominations and Elections, and Special Needs).
Again, thanks for your interest in participating in this key part of our Co-op’s work.
