Back to Botanical School, Too!

Fall is approaching, and with the smell of roasting chiles in the air, it's time to think about pursuing the dreams and interests that make you unique.

If you have been wanting to learn more about medicinal herbs, if you have
been dreaming of having the knowledge of a herbalist, then the North American College of Botanical Medicine has something to offer you.

The North American College of Botanical Medicine was founded in 1996 to provide a setting in the United States where students committed to the study and practice of herbal medicine could get extensive hands-on training.

It was the first college in the United States to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Herbal Medicine.

The three-year degree program includes clinical experience in each year, with students in their final year seeing clients as practitioners.

For those people with a keen interest in herbalism, who do not wish to dedicate three years of their lives to its pursuit, the College offers a certificate program.

The program will include the safe and effective use of botanical medicine for common ailments, the inside information on popular herbs, how to make medicine from plants, an herb walk to identify local plants, and a few surprises.

The program is being revised over the summer to provide a more accessible approach.

The College is also planning several workshops over the coming year.

Topics will include: "Antibiotic Alternatives for Respiratory and Immune Support," "Allergy Relief with Botanicals," "Herbal Preparations," "Botanical First Aid Kit," "Botanicals For Children; Women's Health; and Men's Health."

Watch for our ad in the newsletter for listings of the upcoming workshops, or call our office at 873-8107 and ask to be put on the mailing list.
