Moratorium On Genetically Engineered Foods

Do you want mandatory labeling and testing of all genetically engineered foods for long-term health and safety for consumers and the environment by independent scientists?

Do you want a complete moratorium on the introduction of all genetically altered organisms into the environment until there is scientific agreement that they have been proven completely safe?

Do you want the biotech corporations to be forced to assume all liability for damage due to pollen drift and other recognized and as yet unrecognized health, environmental and economic dangers to the well being of organic farms, farmers and consumers and the whole of the environment?

The FDA is taking comments today.

Express your concern that:

• Recent studies show that GE foods could cause antibiotic resistance, allergic reactions, and other dietary risks and could create new toxins and must not be “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS).
• GE foods violate the ethical or religious dietary concerns of many individuals who cannot avoid them due to lack of mandatory labeling
• GE foods are a significant threat to the environment and put not only organic farmers and foods at risk but all of the planet through pollen drift, the development of weed and insect resistance and exposures to poisons in new forms, as in the case of monarch butterfly deaths.
