Annual Co-op
Holiday Open House
by Robyn Seydel

This year, “peace on earth, good will towards men” has more meaning than just another of those often-repeated holiday phrases. Every year it is a great pleasure to celebrate the spirit of the season with our many friends and members.

This year we are especially grateful and feel we, as a Co-op, have much to celebrate. Thanks to the loyal support of old members and many new members the Co-op is once again on firm footing. We have met and exceeded our budgetary expectation, our new General Manager Tom Nolan has settled in, and we are in the final planning stages for the payment of a patronage refund, a year earlier than expected.

All this has been made possible by our hardworking staff and you, our devoted
Co-op members. With your continued support we look forward to a year of cooperative growth and community service. We invite everyone in both our neighborhoods to celebrate the joys of this season with wonderful holiday food samplings and local music at either or both of our stores.

Join us on Dec. 6th at the Nob Hill location for a holiday gathering in conjunction with the Nob Hill Merchants Association’s Shop and Stroll, and one week later at the Valley for the Annual Holiday Open House.
Our 7th Annual Make a Child Smile Holiday Giving Tree will be up at both stores, so you can choose an ornament and share your blessings with a less fortunate child from four New Mexican agencies: New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, All Faiths Receiving Home, Peanut Butter & Jelly Day School, and New Mexico Parent & Child Resources, Inc. These agencies and the children they represent are tremendously grateful for all the gifts our Co-op community has donated over the years.

Join your friends and neighbors at either Co-op location to celebrate this year’s many blessings. For many of us, the Co-op provides an island on which the cooperative principles of economic justice and sustainability give hope for the future. Take a moment to slow down in the safe harbor that is the Co-op, joyously celebrate the blessings of our diverse community, and share holiday cheer with neighbors and friends, old and new, as we look forward together to another year of community cooperation.
